CampsBay Media holds ground-breaking sports business forum

CampsBay Media, a sports communication company based in Lagos, hosted the inaugural CampsBay Sports Business Forum, a platform which brought together sports industry professionals, and created a unique avenue for networking and exchange of business ideas.

The event that was held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the TP Academy, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, had two panellists; Ms. Chichi Nwoko, General Manager of Kwesé Free Sports, and Mr. Koye Sowemimo, Head of Sports at the Temple Management Company.

The focus of discussion on the day was the Winter Olympics holding in Pyeongchang, South Korea, with particular emphasis on the historic Nigeria Women’s Bobsled team comprising Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga and Skeleton athlete Simidele Adeagbo.

Ms. Nwoko enlightened the participants at the forum on the objectives of Kwesé Free Sports – who are the broadcast rights holders of the Winter Olympics – in securing the rights for the games.

Equally, she emphasised on the need to create interesting content around aspiring young Nigerian athletes in order to properly document their stages of professional growth, which ultimately ensures there are video archives when they become successful in future, which can be used to inspire and motivate budding talents.

Mr. Sowemimo talked about how the Temple Management Company partnered with the Nigeria Women’s Bobsled team, providing professional guidance to the athletes and helping to create awareness about the sport which was virtually unknown at the time of qualification.

He also detailed how they secured funding from sponsors, including kits deals and naming the Nigeria team ‘The Ice Breakers’, a unique name which hopefully brings success to the nation now and in the future.

The Forum was quite interactive as the participants were able to put across questions to the panellists, which were professionally and satisfactorily answered much to the delight of everyone present.

At the end of the event, CampsBay Media Chief Strategist, Mr. Lolade Adewuyi, expressed delight and gratitude to those present, stating he felt fulfilled that a dream he had nurtured since 2015 had been actualised and he revealed plans to make the gathering a monthly event.
